It's a prop house Mago from a dreary northern soap opera called Coronation Street, the characters who own it Tyrone who's a mechanic and Fiona who wears supermarket clothing are splitting up and selling up, the estate agent on Friday night's episode valued the house at £150k and £175k. I'm not an estate agent but if I was, I would value the tramp's nest at a generous £39.000. Those types of establishments were especially built for mill workers to live in when Queen Victoria was on the throne you would have had 2 or more families living in one of those sad, wet hutches with an outside toilet.
Oh dear ... "Coronation Street", the model for German Lindenstraße (quit after 35 years, I never watched it). "The soap opera as replacement" comes to mind. Two families ? Speak about utilisation ... When did electricity come into such houses, surely only after WWI ? Also water and wastewater may be achievements of the Thirties. "But hey ! We had each other !" And worms.
Gorgeous cladding. Can't wait to see what they did with the interior. Jx
ReplyDeleteIt's horrible.
Delete150.000 Pounds equal roughly 180.000 €. For this sad, wet hutch ? Thank you, I have no need for "more details".

The good ole days.
DeleteDoes Tyrone Dobb's Nana come with the house?
ReplyDeleteYes, as a live-in maid, hence the price.
DeleteI'm from the South, so it seems reasonable to me - bordering on bargain!

Agreed - £150,000 wouldn't even buy you a lock-up garage in London.
DeleteOur flat is on the cusp of Zones 3 and 4, with a mere five rooms (including bathroom and kitchen) and a tiny garden, and would be £450-500k. Jx
Jon and Scarlet's dream house?
DeleteHave they dismantled Jack Duckworth's pigeon coops in the back yard or is that a selling feature?
ReplyDeleteThe brochure is saying it's a charming property boasting it's very own quail module.
