Tree echium

I'm thinking about growing some Tree echium for the front garden, next year. Give the neighbours something to talk about!

  1. You could heighten the effect by placing a couple of large ornamental cobbles either side.

    1. That'll look nice and perhaps some Snow in Summer opposite the cobbles for a summery thatch.

  2. Definitely, yes!

I've already got some seedlings on the go (which probably won't flower until 2022, but still...)

    1. It'll be something to look forward to, make a change from boring old foxgloves. I plan to put a few in my mother's front patch, she lives in a retirement village for the over 55s, if the old dears that live there get excited at a few geraniums, imagine what they'll do when they see those in full bloom.

  3. Combine this with a thatch of pampas grass and tongues will really be wagging.

    1. Add to that a box of OMO washing powder displayed at the kitchen window (ask Scarlet).

    1. Yes I'm familiar with IDV's warty wand. Mouth-watering!

    2. Crikey! That's a new one. Did The Very Mistress put you up to this, Mago?

  5. I love echium and had a big swath of them in my back yard just from planting two of them originally. They've naturalized here in Northern California and some people think they're invasive. Fuck them, small minded dolts.

  6. DeVice is right, of course, they don't bloom the first year.

    1. I was going to buy some from the garden centre ready to bloom for next year but they don't stock them, I could have bought delphiniums but they don't have that extra bit of girth like the echiums have, do they?
