Dobbies

My visit to Dobbies garden centre, York, was further enhanced by this gorgeous piece of artwork found on the back of the toilet door, it's of a beautiful and rare orchid.

  1. Eek! "Day of the Triffids"...

...mind you, they were considerably bigger than 7 inches.

  2. The artist is Japanese, but I have nearly forgotten all my Kanji writing so I can't tell you what it says. :(

    1. Shocking handwriting, I read it as:
      Dani 7
      Dan 17
Daivid could be a welsh variant of Daffydd.

But another question you have to ask yourself is why put a dash through the first number seven (which suggests foreign extraction) and not in the second, so if it isn't a number seven than what is it? I believe you are right. it does look like nu in katakana and the picture is missing the Jap's eye!

  3. I wonder if it's an easy specimen to grow?

  4. And can it be grown from seed.

I'll have to send Carole Baxter a line.
