Apple Gran

My maid of all work Carmen, turns 50 in a few days time... 50! To be honest she doesn't look 50 at all, she looks more like 65!

What do you buy a maid of all work who has everything including a Morphy Richards steam mop and iron?

I might have a stab at making an apple gran in her likeness, she'll be thrilled.

Let's remind ourselves of that exquisite ornament I made for her a couple of years ago?

  1. I think you might have to go upmarket and fashion something out of a watermelon. Add some vodka, after all this is what is known as a BIG birthday.

    1. I could slice the melon in half, length ways, scoop out the flesh and blend it with the vodka, place it in the freezer for a few hours for a nice refreshing granita, but alcohol doesn't freeze very well, does it? I know, I'll make her a nice jelly instead.

  2. Happy Birthday to young wisp-of-a-thing Carmen!

Nice arty gift idea that doubles as a survival food supply!

  3. Treat her like a queen.

Fashion a crown for her from a half ton block of Cheddar.

      I've never heard the likes!

Why keep a dog and bark yourself?

  4. There are tears of wonder I my eyes or they could be from joy felt on Carmen's behalf. I never thought the present of 2014 could be topped. xx

    1. I've got the head done, but you've never seen the likes. John Merrick the Elephant Man springs to mind, quite a good likeness really. I placed it on the bottom shelf of the oven when I was doing oven chips. It's now on a sunny window sill getting more and more puckered by the hour but sadly it's not dry enough to present it to her tomorrow. I'll give her it at Christmas instead. She'll have to make do with a shiny new 50 pence piece in a card, wreckless I know but there you go.

  5. You know...I always treasure handmade things and what a lovely and thoughtful gift. Happy Birthday to Carmen, she deserves a half-holiday.

This reminds me of a gym teacher I once had that I called "Apple Doll" because he had an unfortunate hatchet face but a fine ass body.

  6. I do too but if it looks crap/cheap, it gets tossed in the bin or wrapped up in Christmas paper and left anonymously on a neighbour's doorstep.

You don't look at the mantelpiece whilst stoking the fire.
