Marianne Faithfull - Sparrows Will Sing

Marianne Faithfull the ultimate hell raiser, is back with a new album, Give My Love To London (sponsored by Mars). It always amazes me when those debauched types are interviewed and they can remember with such clarity word for word conversations of past events and yet they claim their lives has been spent in a drug and alcohol stupor. I had a couple of shandys at a pub in Blackpool over the weekend and I can't even remember the name of the hotel we stayed at. That's Blackpool for you.

  1. Oh, jeez. I didn't even know that she was still alive!

  2. She's indestructible - and GOd knows she tried. She's not seventy yet.

Blackpool ? Always thought it was invented by Jethro Tull.

  3. She sounds terrible as ever but her music is always good. I like to remember her as, The Girl on a Motorcycle. I think there is always some dowdy cousin hanger -on that does a stars bidding while they drink, drug and piss themselves into rehab. Then that cousin shows up with all the sketchy details for another paycheck.

  4. Oh sweetie, they just lie, lie, lie; making up the details as they fancy. It's what I do.

  5. I think both The Pirate and Peenee have convincing theories.
I don't even drink shandy and I remember nothing.

  6. You mean she's still alive? I recently saw a clip of her being interviewed in the 1960s, saying how she loved the idea of death. Is "sponsored by Mars" a reference to the Mars Bar incident?

  7. She has a voice which you love or hate, but rather than expecting the perfect vocal listen to how her voice makes the tracks interesting how her voice goes with the music how she makes it an art in its self... she is doing something many who were classed as the best aren't any more! i like her because she is real.
