RIP Clarissa Dickson Wright

 Clarissa Dickson-Wright and Jennifer Paterson
Grab that crab Clarissa! Of  all the cookery programmes ever shown on the telly, The Two Fat Ladies were my favourite. I was addicted to them, with their no nonsense manner and their love of lard. No Fat Ladies now, how sad.

Lets remind ourselves of how great they really were.

  1. I assume she ate herself to death. I remember the only episode I ever saw of their show where one of them said her father forbid them to eat Oleo as her father invented the stuff and, "knew what was in it."

I only use real butter to this day.

    1. They have been very shady about what caused her death, so I reckon it was the drink, she was fond of a wee nip.

  2. Hmm. That's all I'm saying. She was a daft bugger.

  3. She did like to live it large. I have to say she and her mate used to turn my stomach ever so slightly with their cookery shenanigans...red nail varnish and bread making..but I liked that she didn't give a shit. You can't with a name like Clarissa Theresa Philomena Aileen Mary Josephine Agnes Elsie Trilby Louise Esmerelda Dickson Wright I suppose.xx

    1. Jennifer was always my favourite, did you see her squelching sausage meat with her bejewelled fingers and those vermillion painted nails? I dread to think what was lodged and festering underneath them, and she was always seen smoking a roll-up and having a drink. You never see Mary Berry doing that.

  4. Our local public broadcasting station used to carry their show. I watched part of one episode. I don't remember what they were cooking but they were in a house out in the country if I recall correctly.

    1. They were always out at some toffs house in the country, boot licking, they never cooked for the ordinary folk. I've just ordered the box set.

I believe the Two Fat Ladies were known as Ladies who Lunch... or was it Lesbians that Munch?

  6. SO very sad when Giants who walked among us fade. I adored them, but would only have eaten the squelch they made at the point of a gun.
