Happy Yorkshire Day

Yorkshire's answer to Joan Crawford
Yorkshire caviar: A refined delicacy enjoyed by Yorkshire gourmets served with entrees such as chips and more chips. In York and Harrogate this delicacy is known as concasse de petite pois (with chipped potatoes) in Leeds and elsewhere it's simply chips and mushy peas.

  2. Don't apologise, if I wasn't familiar with them, I would have thought it was goose shit. Has Mac LX arrived in Scotland yet?

  3. Always thought this to be a joke, really. Cooking peas into a pulp and throwing it over pretty dull pommes - that is something I'd have done as a student after a binge night ... now I understand why I was told not to mash peas with a fork, it looks nasty

    1. All nutrients must be completely destroyed during the boiling process. I remember those days well, and licking the plates clean and putting them straight back in the cupboard.

  4. Couple of more days until I leave.

In Sydney at the Café de Wheels, the Harry's Tiger is pretty good actually. Aussie meat pie, mashed potato, and mushy peas, all topped with gravy.

    1. Will you be at the Edinburgh Tattoo? The Queen goes to Scotland in August for her holiday, if you see any of the Royal Family do say hello to them from me.

  5. It might be okay if mushed with salad cream, but I am a soppy southerner, so I would say that.

    1. I can take them or leave them. Have them pureed with a sprig of mint on top, jus de petit pois, I think that's the southern way.

  6. Eee that's grand.

I still haven't sampled mushy peas.

Shall I put it on my "bucket list?"

    1. That was a wonderful impression of Hannah Hauxwell MJ. Yes do and I'll put putain on my bucket (pronounced bouquet) list. Have you sampled pressed cod roe in batter and the delights of black pudding?

    2. Nay. I might pass on those, ta very much anyway.

I must play the Hannah Hauxwell clip in full later.

  7. and waste 50 minutes and 25 seconds of your life watching that old crap, I didn't realise how long the video was. Please don't bother MJ, I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I put you through all that, instead, here's her photograph you'll get the gist.

Mitzi is a somewhat Cavalier typist and a hit and miss proof reader and I hope the incorrect spelling of your national dish 'poutine' didn't cause you too much distress.
