Read The Barcode

Do you like to know where your food comes from? Can't eat that foreign muck? Having a good ole English fry-up for breakfast, but where did that tin of Contadina chopped tomatoes come from, if the label is written in mumbo jumbo? Now you can shop at Aldi with confidence thanks to this article. Read here
Very informative. The first 2 or 3 digits identifies the country the product is from.

The infra-red says no!

  1. I wish 76 wasn't a shared code. I am trying to avoid produce from Liechtenstein.

  2. I sorted out my food cupboard this morning and I have nothing from Liechtenstein you'll be pleased to know.

  3. Ta for this, Mitzi.

Mistress MJ is one of those types who doesn't buy Chinese and in fact, I've been planning to do a post about "Made in China" tat.

Do you have any idea how difficult it is here to find a teapot not made in China?

I must refer to your handy chart.

  4. It's enough to give One the vapours!

I've just taken a look at my teapot, sadly the barcode has been washed off, it's made by JUDGE? and it's oven, microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe. Who in the right mind, puts their teapot in the oven and freezer?

I would suggest joining a pottery class and make your own, just like Deirdre Barlow. MJ's Fine Teapot Emporium, it could become world class.

Buying clothes is a nightmare too, I saw a nice jacket in Debenhams (the aich is silent) today, looked at the label, yes it was made in China, like every knacking thing else. I was slightly disappointed but not surprised really. The top I'm wearing today is made in India and my Wrangler jeans are made in mauritius and my knickers are made in Spain, I've got it all going on!

  5. Come to think of it who puts their teapot in the microwave, some slattern who doesn't own a kettle.

  6. I forgot to mention, when I looked at this post this morning, I'd only received 4 views, so I gave it a more provocative title and now they keep flooding in, 36 already. The filthy beggars!
