Scarborough

I think it was Eleanor Roosevelt who said 'Do one thing every day that scares you' with those words in mind, we headed off to Scarborough, situated  on the North Yorkshire coast. Yes the same Scarborough Simon and Garfunkel sang about in their 1968 song Scarborough Fair

We sat on a bench and ate chips from Winking Willy's chip emporium, just about where the two old bids are sat in the above picture. There, we overhead a woman talking to her friend " I've ad camera up me, three times and still they cunt find owt" a bit of Yorkshire dialect there, not for sensitive ears, it put Carmen right off her battered sausage. Carmen is still sulking about the car, I got rid of the Audi and bought a Toyota Hybrid, she doesn't like it, one bit. Tough!

Lovers leap. The Spa Bridge where lovers and cider women would jump to their deaths. The council have now erected arch railings making it impossible for them to jump off.

  1. Unfortunately, I’m quite certain most folk think that Eleanor Roosevelt quote is attributed to Lululemon.

    1. The lululemon manifesto would make a lovely souvenir tea-towel.

    1. A policeman was giving an on the spot fine to an old man who had been cycling on the pedestrianised highstreet, glad to see the police making the streets of Scarborough a much safer place for it's citizens.

    1. I don't know about Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme but they did have this and served by an angry looking woman wearing a cambric tabard.

  6. Hello, just found your blog via your comment over at Ivy Black's - you made me laugh so I stalked you. And here I am, laughing again. There aren't always that many chuckles to be had reading blogs, and I like laughing. Gotta love a bit of colonoscopy chat while troughing down Winking Willy's fish and chips. I'm rather fond of Scarborough (a South Yorkshire dweller here) so clearly I am immune to fear. xxxx

  7. Your first photograph - with palms trees and the wide sweep of beach - reminds me of Nice, France.
