I Have To Have Liquorice

I woke up this morning with a strong craving for liquorice. I staggered out of bed at 6am quickly putting on yesterday's clothes, got into the car and drove to the all night garage, just for a bag of Liquorice Creams. My maid Carmen was baffled by my early morning saturnalia. Why Liquorice? she asked, when I told her about the craving she said, and with a serious face "I hope you're not pregnant."

  1. Thank you MJ. There's a real homely feel about the place now.

  2. I couldn't stand it as a child, now I adore licorice. A tin of altoids licorice will off stave off armageddon until I can get my mits on some good stuff.

  4. Liquorice is a good source of iron.
A stick usually perks me up.

  5. Being a vegetarian, I do lack iron in my diet, perhaps it was my body's way of telling me that I needed some. But how did it know to choose liquorice as it's main source? I didn't know it contained iron.

  6. I've sometimes lacked iron... but I don't like spinach. Sometimes I put molasses in milk and swallow [not good for the teeth].
I have found this handy table.
    Boiled cockles?

  7. Thanks for the info Scarlet, very informative. I don't care how rich in iron cockles are you'll never find me eating them or bearded clams. Don't worry about your teeth you can always take them out afterwards and give them a good rinse under the tap.
