A Quarter Of...

Your Nan has given you 50p for being good, you walk down the street to the corner shop, standing on tiptoe you can just about see over the counter, and what awaits you is the sight of jars and sweets as far as the eye can see.

Humbugs, Mint Imperials, Tea Cakes, Sweet Tobacco, Chocolate Limes, Aniseed Balls, Cough Candies, Sherbert Lemons, Buttermint Bonbons, Liquorice Pipes, Pink Shrimps, Chocolate Mice, Black Jacks, Fruit Salads, Rhubarb and Custard, Mojos, Dolly Mixtures, Gobstoppers, Coconut Mushrooms, Cola Cubes, Midget Gems, Sour Apples, Bulls Eyes, fizzy Cola Bottles, Flying Saucers, Fruitella,Cherry Lips, Floral Gums, Parma Violets.

Coming across a selection like that nowadays is as rare as finding someone who enjoys eating Parma Violets. Every now and then, walking the streets of some sea side town, a little sweet shop will appear as you round the corner and we are transported back to the past.

Thankfully for the nostalgia addicts there are now online versions of our childhood sweetshops so that we can finish the job of rotting our teeth.

Visit A Quarter Of for that mince down memory lane.
